2020 Camp Health, Safety, & Weather Procedures:

**In our effort to provide a fun and educational theatre camp this summer, our Summer Staff would like to emphasize to parents, students, and community supporters that we will take utmost care to provide necessary health & safety precautions in the midst of the current COVID-19 pandemic; adhering to all updated MN Department of Health youth outdoor programming guidelines & information. Campers and Summer Staff will be placed into secure/steady 9:1 ratio pods at all times "Theatre Troupes", in order to protect all persons involved in our camps from any potential spread of the virus.

Once campers are fully registered, families will receive multiple descriptive documents including our health & safety procedures, as well as procedures for summer weather changes. We acknowledge that the stance of the current pandemic is ever-changing, and we, as the 2020 Summer Staff, are committed to updating campers & families in a timely manner on any changes or cancellations that may be deemed necessary.

"Hello! I am glad that you are here. All are welcome here and YOU belong here.
I am so thankful for the opportunity this Summer 2020 to organize and direct new Summer Youth Theatre programming through the Hutchinson Theatre Association, and I am super excited to meet all of our 2020 campers and families!
The idea of providing summer youth theatre opportunities during the summer came from my love of teaching and theatre, a desire to advocate for youth and education within the arts community, and empathy for local students and families in the Hutchinson and surrounding communities, in the lack of summer programming during the current pandemic. I look forward to nurturing your campers in their knowledge of theatre roles, techniques, & stage etiquette, and life-long skills of communication, confidence, teamwork, creativity, collaboration, and more.

Some fun facts about me: I am a current Education student at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, I had a blast taking theatre & dance courses at the UMN this past year, I grew up in Hutchinson, MN, the most recent theatre program that I have directed was through ISD423 Community Ed, I have a long-standing battle with carrots, I have an ice-cream addiction, I sing in about 80% of my conversations, and I love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory ! Oh, and did I mention that I love theatre, youth, and education?

This is a just bit about me, and I am excited to learn a bit about you too!
Please do not hesitate to contact me by email with any questions and/or concerns.
I hope to see you soon!"

“I’m so excited to be a part of the 2020 Summer Theatre Camp and Master Class! I am a true theatre nerd and proud of it!

During the school year I work at Hutchinson High School as a Special Education Assistant in the Cornerstone Program and I direct the Spring Play. In 2019 I was overjoyed to direct CLUE: On Stage! At HHS. It was amazing to see the classic board game (and movie) come to life on stage! Unfortunately, our spring play was cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but I look forward to next year’s play.

Before coming to HHS, I was the Director of Youth Ministry at Peace Lutheran Church, working with youth in grades 6-12. I was heavily involved with Hutchinson Area Youth, and the Thursday Free Lunch Program. In addition to many youth groups, Bible studies, and Ga-Ga ball tournaments, I have gone on many mission trips. Ask me about my trip to Haiti during that country’s political unrest, which extended the trip with lots of drama! (Just not our good theatre-kind of drama!)
Back in 2012-2013, I spent a year as the Executive Director of The Hutchinson Center for the Arts. There I became familiar with the many arts organizations in our community. Theatre and the performing arts have always been my first love! I majored in Theatre Education at St Cloud State University, with minors in Film and Public Relations. Ask me about living in the Harry Potter Castle when I did a study abroad program in England.

Predominantly an actor by craft, I have also produced and directed many shows on stage over the years. Mostly working in children’s and community theatre. I grew up in Portage, Wisconsin (near Wisconsin Dells) where I was in 27 shows before I graduated high school! My husband Jason teaches at Park Elementary (yes, he was your “tech time” teacher! Yay Mr. D!). We live in Hutchinson with our 2 border collie rescue dogs.”

Excellent experience. Camper always showed great enthusiasm about what had been done each day. Was definitely a self-esteem builder. Such a joy to pick up an excited, happy kid each day.
